Study Reveals Vehicle Usage Patterns in the US

1 million three-year-old vehicles sold in 2025. The study found that the Ford Mustang is the least-driven gas-powered car, with an average annual mileage of 2,092 miles. However, this figure only reflects the habits of owners who sold their vehicles, not those who plan to keep them long-term.

In contrast, family haulers like the Chrysler Pacifica and Chrysler Voyager had higher average annual mileages, with the Pacifica leading at 20,872 miles. Conventional hybrids were found to be the most-driven vehicles overall, averaging 14,696 miles per year. Sports cars, such as the Mercedes-Benz SL and Porsche 911, were among the least-driven vehicles.

The study also found that certain electric vehicles, like the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, exceeded the average annual mileage of gas-powered cars. The data was based on an analysis of vehicles that changed hands in 2025, excluding low-volume models.
