About Boca Auto Care

Boca Auto Care is an independent website for drivers in Boca Raton and the towns around it: Delray Beach, Deerfield Beach, Boynton Beach, Highland Beach, Coconut Creek, Parkland and Lighthouse Point. We help you work out what is wrong with your car, what a fair price for the repair looks like here, and which nearby shops do that kind of work.

What we are, and what we are not

We are not a repair shop. We do not fix cars, sell parts, or hold appointments, and we are not affiliated with any vehicle manufacturer or dealer group. Brand names on this site are used only to identify the vehicles a guide is about.

What you will find here

  • Fix-it guides: problem-first explanations of common car trouble, from an A/C blowing warm air to a flashing check engine light, with likely causes, safe checks you can do yourself, and typical South Florida repair costs.
  • Service guides: what each kind of repair involves, what it usually costs, how to choose a shop, and the upsells worth questioning.
  • Brand guides: known problems, maintenance priorities and cost notes for the makes people drive here.
  • A shop directory of independent shops, dealers, tire stores, glass and body shops, detailers and car washes in the area.
  • Recall notices from the NHTSA database.

Why South Florida specifically

Most car advice online is written for a generic driver in a mild climate. Cars here live differently. Heat soak in a summer parking lot, year-round A/C load, salt air near the coast, afternoon downpours, hurricane flooding, and cars that sit for months while their owners are up north all change what fails and when. Our guides are written for those conditions.

Who writes the guides

Guides are researched and written by the Boca Auto Care editorial team and reviewed before they are published. We work from owner's manuals, manufacturer service information, NHTSA data, Florida statutes and trade sources, and we list the sources at the bottom of each guide. Our editorial policy explains the process, how cost ranges are estimated, and how to report a mistake.

How the site is paid for

The site is free to use. It is supported by advertising and, when you ask for quotes through one of our forms, by passing your request to local shops that can quote it. Shops cannot pay to change what a guide says, and a shop listing is not an endorsement. Listing a shop in the directory is free.
