Why the 2026 Toyota Camry AWD Is the Smartest $31,125 You’ll Spend

Toyota’s 2025 redesign of the Camry was a bold move that paid off. The sedan shed its dated image for a sleek, executive look and swapped out all gas-only engines for a hybrid powertrain. Now, for 2026, the Camry AWD delivers 50 miles per gallon on the highway and starts at just $31,125 for the LE trim.

That’s a combination of fuel efficiency and all-weather capability that its main rivals, the Honda Accord Hybrid and Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, simply can’t match, because neither offers all-wheel drive.

5-liter four-cylinder hybrid system, which produces 232 horsepower in AWD form. The Electronic On-Demand system kicks in automatically when the front wheels lose traction, sending power to the rear for added grip without hurting fuel economy much. The base LE AWD gets an EPA-estimated 51 city, 49 highway, and 50 combined mpg.

Even the top-tier XSE AWD manages 44 mpg combined. By comparison, the cheapest Accord Hybrid starts at $33,795 and gets only 44 mpg combined, making the Camry LE AWD both more efficient and $2,670 cheaper.

The Camry AWD lineup includes five trims, LE, SE, Nightshade, XLE, and XSE, each available with AWD for an extra $1,525. Standard features on the LE include wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Step up to the XSE AWD and you’ll stay under $40,000 even with destination fees.

With sales of 179,044 units in the first half of 2026, double the Accord’s tally, the Camry AWD has proven it’s not just a fuel-sipper, but the family sedan that delivers real value without compromise.
