What New Car Prices Mean for Boca Raton Drivers - May Market Update

If you’ve been shopping for a new Mercedes, BMW, Audi, or Lexus lately, you already know prices aren’t getting any kinder. National averages show the typical new car cost $49,220 in May, down just a hair from April. But the real story is in the luxury and SUV segments—where many of our customers live.
High-end luxury cars saw the biggest jump: average transaction prices hit $127,436, up 7.3% from last year. That’s $8,700 more. Midsize SUVs (think BMW X5, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90) also rose nearly 3% year-over-year to $50,185. Even compact crossovers like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 crept up to $37,757.
What does this mean for you? If you’re holding onto your current European or Japanese car a little longer, you’re not alone. And that makes regular maintenance more important than ever. At our family-run shop (since 1989), we see plenty of high-mileage Mercedes, BMWs, Volvos, Toyotas, and Hondas that run beautifully with proper care—hybrids included.
One bright spot: electric vehicle prices dropped for the 11th month in a row, down 4% from last year. If you’re considering an EV or plug-in hybrid, now might be a good time to shop.
Whether you’re keeping your current car or buying new, we’re here to keep it running right. Give us a call if you’d like us to check over your vehicle—no appointment necessary for a quick look.
