Unmarked Police Car Catches Corvette and Challenger Racing on Florida Bridge - One Driver Arrested

Two drivers on Jacksonville’s Buckman Bridge made a costly mistake when they decided to race directly in front of an unmarked police SUV. A Chevrolet Corvette and a Dodge Challenger blocked multiple lanes before taking off, unaware that the vehicle behind them was law enforcement.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office shared dramatic footage on Facebook, showing the red Corvette and Challenger holding up traffic. Officer Ernesto Valerio was caught off guard as the race began, saying over the radio, “Oh, and they’re racing now. ” He called out the speed as “120” before catching up to the Challenger.
After activating his emergency lights and appearing ready to perform a PIT maneuver, the driver finally stopped. Valerio ordered him to shut off the vehicle, then handcuffed and arrested him on the spot, telling him, “You’re under arrest for racing and super speeding.”
The arrested driver was identified as 22-year-old Quashay Frazier Jr., who now faces a felony charge and multiple misdemeanors. The incident happened last Friday night, August 14, according to the sheriff’s office.
The office’s post condemned street racing, calling it “down right stupid” and noting that officers were already targeting racers that weekend. The arrest was one of eight made during “Operation Double Down” on Friday and Saturday.
