Toyota’s Meaner GR GT Prototype Spotted Prowling the Nürburgring

Toyota has returned to the legendary Nürburgring with a new, more aggressive prototype of its upcoming GR GT supercar, and it’s turning heads. Spotted during testing, this latest version features significantly sharper aerodynamics than previous prototypes, suggesting the Japanese automaker is pushing the performance envelope hard before a potential production debut.
The car’s wider stance and redesigned front splitter, rear diffuser, and prominent rear wing hint at serious track-focused intentions.
The GR GT, which first emerged as a concept car in early 2023, is being developed under Toyota’s Gazoo Racing banner. This prototype, however, looks far more production-ready and menacing than earlier mules. Observers noted deeper side skirts, larger air intakes, and what appears to be a revised exhaust system, all pointing to a hotter, more powerful variant than initially expected.
9-mile course, remains Toyota’s preferred proving ground for high-performance models.
While Toyota has kept official details under wraps, the aggressive aero package strongly suggests this isn’t just a styling exercise. Industry watchers believe the GR GT could eventually rival established supercars from Porsche and Ferrari, especially if it borrows from Toyota’s Le Mans-winning hybrid technology.
For now, the sight of this prototype lapping the ‘Ring is the clearest signal yet that Toyota is serious about building a halo car that’s as fast as it looks. Stay tuned for more updates as testing continues.
