Toyota Spices Up Corolla’s 60th Birthday With a Mustard Paint Job, Not a New Nose

Toyota is still celebrating the Corolla’s 60th anniversary, and this time the party has reached the five-door Corolla Sport hatchback in Japan. Following the Active Sport sedan and wagon, plus the rugged Corolla Cross Z Adventure, the latest special edition is called the Corolla Sport G Z Active Elegance.
It’s a birthday present that adds some flashy extras rather than a full redesign.
The big news is an optional Black and Mustard two-tone paint scheme that makes the hatchback stand out. But underneath, the current twelfth-generation Corolla Sport hasn’t changed its face since 2018. Buyers can also choose more subdued shades like Black, Platinum White Pearl Mica, or Neutral Black.
The exterior gets 60th Anniversary badges on the front fenders and new 18-inch machined-finish alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin features genuine leather and Brannove suede-like upholstery in Chateau and Black, plus Smoke Silver accents, an anniversary logo on the dashboard, aluminum pedals, and sport seats.
8-liter engine still delivers 138 horsepower to the front wheels through a CVT gearbox. The regular G Z trim now also gets the same 18-inch wheels as standard, and the color palette expands to include Dark Blue Mica and a two-tone Platinum White Pearl Mica with a black roof. The special edition is already on sale in Japan, priced from ¥3,438,000 (about $21,200), which is ¥218,000 ($1,300) more than the standard G Z.
No word yet on whether this mustard-colored hatchback will reach other markets.
