Toyota Recalls Over 500,000 Camry Hybrids Over Blank Display and Lost Signals

Toyota is recalling more than half a million Camry Hybrids in the U.S. because a software glitch can leave the 7-inch instrument cluster screen blank at startup. The same fault can also knock out turn signals, hazard lights, and warning buzzers like seat belt chimes and the key-in-ignition reminder.
The recall covers 508,354 Camry Hybrid models from the 2025-2026 model years, built between August 15, 2024, and June 9, 2026. The affected software appears only on this vehicle, not on other Toyota or Lexus models. The problem puts the cars out of compliance with federal safety standards for controls, displays, lamps, and reflective devices.
Toyota first heard about the blank screens in July 2024 but couldn't reproduce the issue at the time. By October 2025, more reports came in, and supplier Visteon Corporation managed to replicate the fault. Investigators again reproduced the problem in late July of this year during a startup test.
Dealerships were told about the recall on August 6, and owner notifications are scheduled to go out between September 21 and October 5. This is not a fix that can be done over the air. Owners must bring their cars to a dealer, where the screen's software will be updated at no charge.
