This Custom Shop Built the Land Rover Defender Pickup You’ve Been Waiting For

Land Rover may have refreshed the Defender, but a pickup version is still missing from the lineup. One British tuning shop decided not to wait. Urban Automotive just unveiled a two-door truck conversion called the Widetrack Avontur at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it’s built from a Defender 110 Hard Top commercial vehicle.
The rear doors are gone, the roof has been chopped, and carbon fiber trim wraps the cutouts. The standout feature is the exposed carbon fiber bed, complete with a modular rail system, a bottle holder, and a functional tailgate. To keep the body rigid, the team added structural reinforcements and a rollover framework.
All told, the conversion uses more than 36 custom parts, and buyers can choose between gloss or matte carbon finishes.
Urban Automotive also used Goodwood to launch a widebody styling kit for the Defender Octa. That package includes a bulged hood, aero add-ons, wide fender extensions, a rear spoiler, and carbon exhaust surrounds. The prototype wears gold 23-inch Vossen forged wheels and matching gold accents against a blue body.
Orders are open for the Octa kit, and expressions of interest are being taken for the Avontur pickup. Prices haven’t been announced, but expect a hefty premium for this level of custom work.
