The SUV That Blends Honda-Level Dependability With AMG-Beating Speed

The SUV That Blends Honda-Level Dependability With AMG-Beating Speed

For years, car buyers faced a tough choice: get something reliable like a Honda or Toyota, or go for raw performance from a German automaker. But the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT smashes that trade-off. This SUV delivers the kind of mechanical trustworthiness you'd expect from a Japanese brand, while packing enough power to embarrass high-end AMG models.

It's not just quick for an SUV, it's genuinely fast by any standard.

0-liter twin-turbo V8, known as the EA825, paired with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. Output started at 631 horsepower and 626 lb-ft of torque in 2022, later bumped to 650 horses without sacrificing reliability. 6 seconds, and tops out at 190 mph. 925, making it the fastest production SUV at the time and quicker than many dedicated sports cars.

The chassis matches the engine's brawn. Upgrades over the standard Cayenne Turbo include rear-axle steering, adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management, ceramic composite brakes, a lower ride height, and stiffer springs. Bespoke Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires were developed specifically for this model and were key to that record lap.

Inside, you get a lavish, sporty cabin that rounds out the package. Against rivals like the Lamborghini Urus Performante and Audi RS Q8 Performance, the Turbo GT holds its own, and often comes out ahead in nimbleness, speed, and long-term dependability.

All this performance comes at a price. A new 2027 Cayenne Turbo GT starts at $214,800, and with options and dealer markups, you're likely looking at over $250,000. Used models from earlier years can be found for around $150,000 or less. Maintenance isn't cheap either, given the complexity and high-performance parts.

Still, for those who can afford it, the Cayenne Turbo GT offers a rare blend of German engineering, supercar thrills, and the kind of reliability that makes it a daily driver you can actually trust.
