The 2023 Lexus RX 350: A Reliability Star With a Few Blind Spots

The 2023 Lexus RX 350: A Reliability Star With a Few Blind Spots

When Lexus rolled out the fifth-generation RX 350 in 2023, it brought a sharper look and a lighter, stiffer GA-K platform. The redesign didn't turn the midsize luxury SUV into a corner-carving sports machine, but that hardly matters to buyers who prize something else: rock-solid dependability.

Consumer Reports ranks it among the most reliable crossovers on the market. iSeeCars gives it an 8 out of 10 as the most reliable luxury five-seat SUV under $60,000. D. S. Vehicle Dependability Study. That reputation holds up in resale value too, Kelley Blue Book notes the RX 350 loses just 28% of its value over three years, well below the industry average.

The numbers tell a compelling story. D. 0, which translates to lower-than-average repair bills. Edmunds data shows owners pay roughly $1,287 in repairs over five years, less than half the cost of a BMW X3 ($2,787), and significantly cheaper than a Mercedes-Benz GLC ($2,977) or a Volvo XC60 ($1,873).

But no car is bulletproof, and the fifth-gen RX 350 has its share of recall headaches.

In March 2026. Toyota recalled 2023-2026 non-hybrid RX models, potentially 71,084 units, for a defective backup camera. That followed a February recall of 2024-2025 RX 350s for damaged rear center seat belts, affecting up to 7,391 vehicles. Earlier recalls include a 2023 steering column issue (re-issued in 2025) and a 2025 recall for blank instrument screens on about ten 2025 models.

If you're shopping for a used fifth-gen RX 350, model years 2023 through 2026, it pays to check the recall history. 4-liter engine appears to be the most reliable powertrain choice so far, but as with any used luxury SUV, a thorough inspection is worth the peace of mind.
