The 2019 Cadillac CT6-V: A Rare Super Sedan Gone After Just One Year

Cadillac has long balanced plush cruisers with genuinely quick performance sedans, but one of its most compelling efforts was a low-volume super sedan that lasted only a single model year. The 2019 CT6-V was built in extremely small numbers, yet it stands as one of the brand's best performance cars ever.
2-liter twin-turbo V8, a clean-sheet design unique to this model. 8 seconds. A 10-speed automatic sent power to all four wheels. The car also featured Magnetic Ride Control, active rear-wheel steering, Brembo brakes, and a special exhaust.
The CT6 rode on GM's Omega platform, a rear-drive architecture used only by this Cadillac. It mixed steel and aluminum to keep weight down while staying rigid. The interior was spacious, with legroom comparable to a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and offered tech like a rear camera mirror, 360-degree camera, night vision, and Super Cruise hands-free driving.
The CUE infotainment system, however, was a weak point due to laggy controls.
Cadillac built roughly 1,475 Blackwing-powered cars total, combining the CT6-V and the more luxury-focused CT6 Platinum, which had a slightly detuned version of the engine. The CT6-V started around $93,000. Finding one today is difficult, and its rarity likely ensures future-classic status.
Compared to current models like the CT5-V Blackwing, the CT6-V remains unique as a full-size sedan blending speed, comfort, and bespoke engineering.
