Summer Heat Poses Fire Risk for Vehicles

Summer Heat Poses Fire Risk for Vehicles

As temperatures rise, certain items left inside a hot car can become hazardous. Aerosol cans, such as those for lubricants or paints, can release flammable gases when heated and potentially explode. Electronic devices like power banks, portable jump starters, and flashlights with lithium batteries can overheat between 120-160°F, triggering a chain reaction that may lead to a fire.

This risk is not theoretical, as a small charger left in direct sunlight recently caused a car fire in Russia. Additionally, items like chocolate bars, gum, and other sweets can melt and spread, requiring interior cleaning. To mitigate these risks, it is recommended to remove unnecessary items from vehicles, especially electronics and pressurized cans, and consider using a cooler bag to protect devices from heat.

This simple precaution can help prevent vehicle fires and damage.
