Subaru Recalls Over Half a Million SUVs Over Brake Problem

Subaru Recalls Over Half a Million SUVs Over Brake Problem

, citing a potential issue with the brake system that could increase stopping distances. The recall covers certain 2019-2022 Ascent models, as well as 2020-2022 Outback, Legacy, and Forester vehicles equipped with a specific engine control module software.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem stems from a software glitch that may cause the brake assist feature to fail under certain conditions. While no crashes or injuries have been reported related to this defect, Subaru says the issue could make it harder for drivers to stop quickly in emergency situations.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified starting in late December. Dealerships will update the engine control module software free of charge. For drivers in the Boca Raton area, Boca Auto Care recommends checking your vehicle’s VIN on the NHTSA website or contacting your local dealer to see if your SUV is included.

In the meantime, if you notice any changes in brake responsiveness, schedule an inspection as soon as possible.
