Subaru Recall Hits Over Half a Million Vehicles - Here’s How to Check Yours

Subaru has issued a recall affecting more than 540,000 vehicles across multiple models, citing a potential issue that could increase the risk of a crash. The recall covers certain 2020 through 2024 model year vehicles, including popular models like the Outback, Legacy, and Ascent.

The problem stems from a possible flaw in the engine control unit programming, which could cause the engine to stall without warning while driving.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall was prompted after Subaru received reports of engine stalls in low-speed situations. The company says no injuries or crashes have been reported so far, but owners are urged to take the issue seriously. Subaru dealerships will update the engine control software at no cost to vehicle owners.

Notifications are expected to begin mailing out in late November.

If you own a Subaru and want to know if your car is affected, you can check using your vehicle identification number on the NHTSA’s recall website or Subaru’s own recall lookup tool. Simply enter your VIN, and the system will tell you whether your specific car is included in this safety campaign.

Boca Auto Care recommends staying proactive with recalls, a quick check now can keep you and your passengers safe on the road.
