Subaru Pulls Over Half a Million Cars for a Label Problem

Subaru is recalling more than 541,000 vehicles in the United States due to an issue with a small but important label. The recall affects certain models where the vehicle’s certification label, which includes key details like tire pressure and weight limits, may have been printed incorrectly.
That could leave drivers without accurate safety information.
The recall covers several popular models from the 2020 through 2024 model years, including the Outback, Legacy, Ascent, and Forester. Subaru says the labels may show the wrong tire size or load capacity, which could lead to improper tire inflation or overloading. While no injuries or accidents have been reported related to the issue, the company is moving quickly to fix it.
Owners will start receiving notification letters in late April. The fix is straightforward: dealers will replace the faulty label with a corrected one at no cost. Subaru is also offering reimbursement for anyone who already paid to get the label fixed. If you own one of the affected vehicles, you can check your VIN on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website or call Subaru’s customer service line.
