Subaru Drops Gas-Only Sport Trim for 2027 Crosstrek, Keeps Prices Unchanged

Subaru isn’t messing with a good thing for the 2027 Crosstrek. The brand’s second-best-selling model, trailing only the larger Forester, gets a simplified lineup and a few subtle updates, but the bottom line stays the same. The base Crosstrek still starts at $28,470, the rugged Wilderness trim opens at $35,270, and the top-tier Limited Hybrid carries a $37,470 price tag.
What’s gone is the gas-only Sport trim, which last year started at $32,075 and packed a 180-horsepower nonhybrid engine.
If you want that Sport look and feel, you’ll need to step up to the hybrid version, which starts at $35,470, $3,395 more than the old gas Sport. The hybrid Sport gets a more powerful 197-horsepower powertrain, along with the same cloth seats accented in yellow, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and faux carbon-fiber interior trim.
The exterior loses some of the yellow accents, but you gain a fully digital gauge cluster, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a retractable cargo cover, and a wireless charging pad.
The rest of the changes are minor. The Limited Hybrid now comes standard with a power sunroof. Subaru also freshened the paint options: Sapphire Blue Pearl is exclusive to hybrids, Ignition Red replaces Pure Red and Lithium Red Pearl (also hybrid-only), and Tidepool Teal Pearl takes over from Alpine Green across all trims.
The 2027 Crosstrek is expected to hit dealerships this fall.
