Stellantis Recalls Select Minivans After 1,600+ Warranty Complaints Over Latch Failure

Stellantis Recalls Select Minivans After 1,600+ Warranty Complaints Over Latch Failure

Stellantis is recalling certain model-year Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager minivans following a defect tied to more than 1,600 warranty claims. The issue involves a faulty side-door latch that can fail to secure properly, increasing the risk of the door opening while the vehicle is in motion.

The recall covers roughly 2021 through 2023 model-year vehicles.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem stems from a manufacturing error in the latch assembly. Dealers will inspect and replace the affected latches at no cost to owners. Stellantis says it is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to the defect, but the high volume of warranty claims prompted the action.

Owners can expect recall notices to arrive by mail starting next month. For those who want to check their vehicle's status immediately, NHTSA’s website or a local dealer can provide details using the vehicle identification number. Boca Auto Care recommends that any minivan owner who receives a notice schedule service promptly, as replacement parts may be in limited supply initially.

While this recall affects only Stellantis models, it serves as a reminder for all minivan owners to periodically check door latches for smooth operation. If you hear clicking or notice a door that doesn’t close firmly, it’s worth having a professional inspect the mechanism before a small issue becomes a safety concern.
