Stellantis Offers 10 Years of Free Remote Start - Here’s Why That’s a Big Deal

Most carmakers give new buyers a one-year taste of connected features like remote start and keyless entry. The logic is simple: get you hooked, then charge you. That’s why I shell out $15 a month for remote locks on my GR Corolla. But Stellantis is flipping the script. Starting with most 2027 models across its brands, Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge, and Alfa Romeo, the company is throwing in a full decade of features like remote start, lock/unlock, automatic SOS calls, and over-the-air updates at no extra cost.

No catch, no hidden fees.

The revamped plan, called Connect One, also includes monthly vehicle health reports, recall alerts, service scheduling, the ability to wipe personal data remotely, and in-vehicle games through the App Market. It doesn’t cover things like remote horn or stolen vehicle assistance, those require the upgraded Connect Plus tier.

But if you buy a 2027 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Wagoneer S, or Alfa Romeo, you get three years of Connect Plus, too. That leaves only a Wi-Fi hotspot as an optional add-on at $13 a month.

Why isn’t everyone doing this? These services cost automakers almost nothing to run. Giving them away for a decade might mean losing some subscription revenue, but it’s a powerful sweetener when car prices are sky-high and sales are sluggish. One caveat: The Drive’s Joel Feder found Stellantis’ connected-car app, especially in the Wagoneer S, can be glitchy.

But at this price point, it’s worth a shot. And with more users, maybe Stellantis will iron out the bugs. Got thoughts on Stellantis’ app? Drop us a line.
