Spyker Returns with a Hand-Built Manual V8 Hypercar at Monterey Car Week

Dutch supercar maker Spyker, often called the 'Dutch Pagani,' has unveiled its first new model in a decade at Monterey Car Week. The C8 Preliator XXV marks a fresh start for the brand after years of failed launches and ownership changes. It's a clean-sheet design, not an evolution of previous models, and it's the third generation of the C8 family.
0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 789 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque, revving to 7,600 rpm. Spyker didn't confirm the engine supplier, but specs match Audi's V8 used in the RS6 and RS Q8, albeit with more power. True to Spyker's tradition, the body is aluminum over an aluminum spaceframe, not carbon fiber, and weighs 3,417 lbs. Each car takes 2,100 hours to build, with the steering wheel alone needing four hours of upholstery work. The design features aviation-inspired elements like dual NACA ducts and jet afterburner taillights.
The show car is finished in Quail Green with rose gold flakes, and options include rose gold wheels for $67,000. Inside, there are toggle switches, green backlit gauges, and an exposed gearshift linkage, plus a head-up display instead of a traditional screen.
Spyker's history dates to 1880 as a coachbuilder, credited with building the first six-cylinder, all-wheel-drive car in 1903. The company has faced financial troubles, including acquiring Saab in 2010, but this new model suggests a revival. 84 million), the C8 Preliator XXV is a bold statement.
Other reveals at Monterey included Gordon Murray's new S1, Lamborghini's Revuelto SV with 1,065 hp, and Cadillac's V-One concept based on its LMDh race car.
