Spied: BMW X2 Facelift Prototype Shows Quad Exhaust and a Vertical Grille

A fully camouflaged BMW X2 prototype has been spotted testing as an M Performance model. The quad exhaust tips suggest it is the top X2 version, though the old M35i xDrive name is expected to lose the “i” in line with other gasoline BMWs.

The facelift brings a completely redesigned front fascia. BMW is giving the X2 a vertical kidney grille, matching larger SUVs like the iX3 and the next X5/iX5. This look is also expected on the X1/iX1 next year.

More significant updates are planned inside. BMW will rework the dashboard to accommodate a central screen, part of the iDrive X setup in Neue Klasse models. 9-inch display and Panoramic Vision, a projection at the base of the windshield. Three fixed tiles serve as the instrument cluster on the left, while six customizable widgets sit on the right.

The heavily disguised prototype still shows its rear spoiler. BMW may keep the current taillights and update only the inner graphics for this LCI. The X2 facelift is expected in 2027, with production reportedly beginning about a year from now.
