Shell Introduces EV Concept with Enhanced Efficiency

Shell has unveiled the Triple 10 Challenge concept, a proof-of-concept vehicle designed to inspire a new design philosophy for next-generation battery electric vehicles. The compact car aims to achieve three key targets: 10-km/kWh efficiency, a 10-tonne CO2e lifecycle footprint, and recharging time of less than 10 minutes.
The concept's battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 9 minutes and 54 seconds using a 175 kW DC fast charger. The vehicle features a lightweight design, optimized battery capacity, and recyclable materials. Shell's Recharge fluid enables direct immersion cooling of the battery and indirect cooling of powertrain components, resulting in a 30% improvement in overall energy efficiency compared to current-generation EVs.
The Triple 10 Challenge concept provides insight into the future of EV technology, although it is still in the conceptual phase.
