Sainz Credits Straight Talk and Family Feel for New Williams Deal

Carlos Sainz says a straightforward relationship with team principal James Vowles and the board was key to his decision to sign a new multi-year contract with Williams Racing, extending beyond the 2027 season. Like teammate Alexander Albon, who signed only for 2027, Sainz placed his faith in Vowles' vision, citing the transparency of their talks.

Williams has struggled at the start of the 2026 season under new regulations, but Sainz is confident the team will bounce back. He highlighted the "feeling of family" and ongoing investments as reasons to stay. "One of the things I value the most is having a straightforward relationship," he said in a team Q&A, noting that honesty and accountability are present across the entire organization.

Sainz described the changes and projects happening behind the scenes as exciting, and he remains focused on bringing Williams back to the front. "The target remains exactly the same: to bring this team back to where it belongs," he said, adding that the team has the right talent, motivation, and passion.

He acknowledged the current season's difficulties but insisted the ingredients for success are in place.
