Remembering Lives Well-Lived: A Tribute to Palm Beach Residents

The Palm Beach community is mourning the loss of several beloved residents, whose lives were marked by love, dedication, and a strong sense of community. Abraham Bernstein, a 93-year-old West Palm Beach resident, passed away on June 13, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and perseverance.
Born to immigrant parents, Bernstein's life was a testament to the American dream, with a public school education, service in the US Army, and higher education supported by the GI Bill. His childhood nickname, Bumi, was a reminder of the love and affection that surrounded him throughout his life.
Tonya Johns, a 61-year-old Hillsdale resident, died on June 24, at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. Born in West Palm Beach, Johns was the daughter of Arnold and Marilyn McGhee, and her life was a reflection of the strong family bonds that defined her. Bonnie Buchholz, born Bonita Lewis, was a West Palm Beach native who attended local schools and grew up with a name inspired by a popular actress.
Her parents, Guy and Annetta Lewis, instilled in her a sense of community and compassion that stayed with her throughout her life. Sharon Simon, an 80-year-old Boynton Beach resident, passed away on June 25, surrounded by the love of her family. A native New Yorker, Simon carried the spirit of Astoria, Queens, with her throughout her life, and her 51-year marriage to Mel was a testament to the enduring power of love and commitment.
As the community comes together to remember these lives well-lived, it is clear that their memories will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew them.
