Ram Confirms Hemi eTorque Is Going Away for 2027

Ram is retiring the Hemi V8's eTorque mild-hybrid system for the 2027 model year. 7-liter engine. Early 2027 production will include both versions while the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant switches to the conventional setup, so the hybrid may briefly remain available. The V8 itself keeps its 395 hp and 410 lb-ft ratings, along with Multi-Displacement System cylinder deactivation.
For 2026, every Ram 1500 Hemi came with eTorque, but that is about to change. Ram hinted at this when it announced the 2027 Rumble Bee would use a non-hybrid Hemi. Buyers who prefer a traditional V8 will get conventional starts and normal idling at stoplights again.
Ram has not said whether pricing or EPA fuel economy ratings will change once the swap is complete. The move expands the 2027 engine lineup, which is expected to include the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 with 777 hp, and multiple Hurricane twin-turbo inline-six engines.
