Ram 1500 Seatbelt Anchor Recall: 1.27 Million Trucks From 2019-2026 Need Checks

Ram 1500 Seatbelt Anchor Recall: 1.27 Million Trucks From 2019-2026 Need Checks

Ram has issued one of its largest recalls in recent memory, covering 1,271,294 trucks from the 2019 through 2026 model years. The issue involves second-row center and driver-side seatbelt buckle anchors that may not have been properly secured to the body structure during assembly.

The company is aware of at least one injury potentially linked to the defect; no fatalities have been reported. 5 million.

In normal driving, a loose anchor may go unnoticed. In a crash, however, the anchor could fail to hold, preventing the seatbelt from doing its job and putting rear passengers at risk of being thrown forward. The condition can affect both the center bench position and the driver-side outboard rear seat, and Stellantis says it could compromise seatbelt performance in certain collision scenarios.

gov/recalls once the recall is posted. Stellantis has not yet announced when owner notification letters will go out or when repair appointments will open. The fix is a dealer inspection of both rear seatbelt buckle anchors, with proper fastening if needed. S. trucks in the affected build range need to be inspected.

The repair is free. Ram customer care can be reached at 1-800-853-1403. CarBuzz reported that recall notices are being mailed this month; until a truck is inspected, using the passenger-side rear outboard seat, which is not part of the recall, is an option.

The recall spans eight model years and appears to be a manufacturing consistency issue rather than a design flaw. It is not Ram's only 2026 recall: about 12,000 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty trucks were recalled earlier in the year for an incorrect speed calibration that could allow the truck to exceed its tire speed rating.

That issue is unrelated. For anyone shopping for a used Ram 1500, a VIN check is a quick way to see whether a truck has already been serviced.
