Ford Tests F-150 Security with Unconventional Method

Ford recently tested the security of its F-150 Platinum pickup by hiring a 360-kilogram brown bear to attempt to break into the vehicle. The bear, named Tag, was able to scratch the body, break a window, and open the door, but the truck's security system held up well. The system features alerts for attempted break-ins, unlocked doors, equipment malfunctions, and unexpected movements, as well as remote video monitoring and engine start inhibition.
This test comes as vehicle security is a growing concern, with over 137,000 catalytic converter thefts reported in the US last year. While the bear test may not reflect real-world threats, which often involve digital tools, it shows that manufacturers are taking steps to improve vehicle security.
The test highlights the importance of vehicle security features, which are a top priority for vehicle owners.
