Porsche Taycan 4: The Pricey, Practical Daily Driver That Feels Like a Porsche First

Porsche's Taycan 4 may not be the fastest EV in the lineup, but it could be the best daily driver on sale today, according to a recent review. While it's expensive even for a model just above the base trim, its blend of ample power, comfort, looks, usability, and sporty handling makes a compelling case.
The all-wheel-drive Taycan 4 pairs one electric motor front and rear for 429 horsepower and 449 pound-feet of torque. 9 seconds with the optional Performance Battery Plus. Top speed is 143 mph. The larger 105-kWh battery offers an EPA-estimated 294 miles of range and can fast-charge from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes.
The ride and handling are standout features. The car runs on adaptive air suspension, and body motions are well controlled without being harsh. Steering feel is praised as second-to-none among EVs. 4-inch lower screen, all simple to use. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported.
Space is a drawback: rear headroom is just 36.2 inches, and trunk space is 14.3 cubic feet, plus 2.9 cubic feet in the frunk. Front seats are comfortable and supportive, with options like heating, cooling, and vegan leather with Pepita fabric.
Pricing is steep. For the 2027 model year, the starting price rose $9,355, partly because the Performance Battery Plus is now standard. The tested 2025 car, with options like Neptune Blue paint, Aero Wheels, the Premium package, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, came to $142,850 including destination.
Despite the cost, the reviewer concludes that for those who can afford it, the Taycan 4 is a near-perfect daily driver, so good that the price almost makes sense.
