Peugeot Unveils a Dog-Friendly EV Concept, But Don’t Expect to Buy One

Peugeot, the Stellantis-owned French automaker, has revealed a quirky new concept car designed with man’s best friend in mind. Dubbed the E-5008 Dog Edition, this electric vehicle’s interior was tailored to how dogs see, hear, and experience a ride, according to reports from Carscoops.

The cabin features a color palette based on canine vision, since dogs only perceive certain hues, designers mixed calming blue tones with stimulating yellow accents, plus soft, non-slip materials to keep four-legged passengers comfortable.

A standout feature is the modular mattress that fits across the rear seats or in the cargo area. It doubles as a protective cover that collects fur and can be turned into a pet bed when parked. For dogs that love sticking their heads out the window, there’s a special yellow cushion that attaches to the glass, letting them rest their chin while watching the road.

The concept also includes built-in bowls, a harness, a toy, a pet dryer powered by the vehicle’s V2L (vehicle-to-load) system, and storage under the trunk floor. The navigation system points owners to charging stations near parks and walking paths, while a “lure” function emits a sound to call a lost dog back and helps it climb into the car.

A “Dog Protection” mode maintains a comfy cabin temperature and lets owners remotely monitor their pet, handy for quick stops at a store or pharmacy. But here’s the catch: Peugeot has no plans to put this version into production. It’s a one-off concept, not a future showroom model.
