Over 110,000 Ford Mustangs Recalled Over Steering Issue

Over 110,000 Ford Mustangs Recalled Over Steering Issue

Ford has issued a recall affecting 110,626 Mustang models from the 2022 through 2023 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the vehicles may have a steering control problem that could increase the risk of a crash. The issue involves a potential loss of electric power steering assist, which can make the car harder to steer at low speeds.

According to Ford, the problem is linked to a software glitch in the steering gear control module. If the module loses power momentarily, the steering assist can cut out, then suddenly return, which could catch a driver off guard. The automaker says it is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the defect, but owners should take the recall seriously.

Ford will notify affected owners starting in late April. Dealerships will update the steering control module software free of charge. Owners can also check if their vehicle is included by visiting the NHTSA website or calling Ford’s customer service line. For now, drivers are advised to be cautious, especially during parking lot maneuvers or tight turns where the steering issue is most noticeable.
