One MPH Over the Line: Pink Porsche Speed Stop Ends in Arrest

One MPH Over the Line: Pink Porsche Speed Stop Ends in Arrest

A bright pink Porsche 911 in Ruby Star color is hard to miss, especially when it's allegedly going more than double the speed limit. Deputies in Fort Myers, Florida, say the car was traveling 96 mph in a 45 mph zone on Three Oaks Parkway, leading to the driver's arrest.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office identified the driver as Jenifer Delisi, who was charged with dangerous excessive speeding. Florida's law applies when a driver exceeds the posted limit by 50 mph or more. At 51 mph over, Delisi was just one mph past that threshold. A first conviction can bring up to 30 days in jail, a $500 fine, or both.

According to deputies, Delisi apologized and took full responsibility, saying, "I wasn't trying to do anything. I apologize. " She was taken to the Lee County Jail, and the Porsche was towed from the scene. The sheriff's office noted on Facebook that a pink Porsche is hard to miss, especially at 96 mph.

The color isn't the real issue, though. Speeding that much on a 45 mph road leaves little room for error for other drivers. Had the car been going just two mph less, it wouldn't have crossed the legal line that turned a ticket into handcuffs.
