One Misplaced Sticker Triggers a Rare Single-Truck Toyota Recall

One Misplaced Sticker Triggers a Rare Single-Truck Toyota Recall

Toyota has issued a recall for exactly one vehicle, a single 2024 Tundra pickup truck, due to a labeling error that could confuse mechanics or safety inspectors. The issue isn’t mechanical; it’s a sticker on the driver’s side doorjamb that shows incorrect tire pressure and payload information.

While it sounds minor, federal regulations require that every vehicle’s label matches its actual specifications, so Toyota is legally obligated to fix it.

The recall, quietly posted on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website, applies to just one Tundra built in Texas. According to the filing, the sticker lists recommended tire pressures and weight limits that don’t align with the truck’s factory equipment. Toyota says the mistake happened during assembly and was caught during a routine audit.

The company will replace the sticker for free, and the owner has been contacted directly.

This is one of the smallest recalls in recent memory, especially for a manufacturer that moves hundreds of thousands of trucks annually. For comparison. Toyota recalled over 100,000 Tundras earlier this year for a different issue. But the single-truck recall highlights how seriously automakers take labeling errors, even when the fix is as simple as peeling off a sticker and sticking on a new one.

The owner’s biggest inconvenience? A short trip to the dealer.
