One Million Miles and Still Going: The Honda Accord That Refuses to Die

Honda has long been known for building cars that just keep running. While other manufacturers chase performance records and flashy designs. Honda quietly proves its vehicles can go the distance. The proof? A 1990 Honda Accord that has racked up over a million miles and shows no signs of stopping.
For Joe LoCicero, that car became more than just transportation, it made him a local legend.
LoCicero bought his blue Accord in 1996 with 75,000 miles already on it. He drove for work nearly seven days a week, averaging 62,500 miles a year. By 2011, he had hit the million-mile mark. Honda threw a surprise parade in Saco, Maine, complete with a marching band, an airplane banner, and a giant odometer float powered by people in hamster wheels.
They also gave him the keys to a new 2012 Accord. The original car? It needed no major engine or transmission repairs. The only tow was for a fuel pump issue in 2007. LoCicero credits regular maintenance and high-quality OEM parts.
LoCicero isn't alone. Justin Kilmer's 2003 V6 coupe has passed 1,060,000 miles, and Dexter Mills' 2000 Accord has also crossed the million mark. Mills had his engine replaced twice, but the cars keep rolling. These Accords prove that with proper care, a modest sedan can outlast expectations.
If you're shopping for a used Accord, models from the 1990s and early 2000s can still be found for under $3,000. A 1993 EX sedan averages around $1,789, while a 2006 EX coupe runs about $5,057. For anyone needing a reliable car that won't quit, the Accord remains a solid bet.
