Nissan. Toyota, and Lexus Owners Urged to Check for New Safety Recalls

Three major automakers have issued fresh safety recalls affecting thousands of vehicles in South Africa. Nissan. Toyota, and Lexus have each flagged specific models for potential defects that could compromise driver and passenger safety. Owners of affected vehicles are being contacted directly, but the manufacturers are also urging anyone who hasn't heard from them to check their vehicle's status immediately.

Nissan's recall targets certain models equipped with airbag inflators that may rupture during deployment, sending metal fragments into the cabin. This issue, linked to older Takata inflators, has been a global concern for years. Meanwhile. Toyota and its luxury division Lexus are recalling vehicles due to a fuel pump problem.

A faulty impeller in the low-pressure fuel pump can cause the engine to stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.

The affected models span several popular nameplates, including the Nissan NP200 and certain Navara bakkies, as well as the Toyota Fortuner, Hilux, and Lexus RX series. Owners can check if their vehicle is part of the recall by visiting the manufacturer's website or contacting their local dealership.

Repairs will be carried out free of charge, and parts are being prioritized to minimize wait times.
