Nissan Recalls Nearly 1,000 Vehicles Over Drive Shaft and Transmission Flaws

Nissan has launched multiple recall campaigns covering roughly 1,000 vehicles, with the bulk involving the 2025 Sentra sedan. The Japanese automaker is also recalling select Rogue crossovers due to a separate transmission issue, according to Carscoops.

The larger recall affects 946 Sentra sedans where the left front drive shaft may not be fully seated into the continuously variable transmission (CVT). This incomplete insertion can cause a loss of traction, fluid leaks, and in some cases, the car might roll even when the parking brake is engaged.

The first warning came last fall when a driver saw a power reduction alert on the dash. A dealer inspection revealed unusual noise and fluid dripping near the driver-side front axle. Engineers traced the problem to a supplier’s manufacturing equipment that produced a bearing flange slightly larger than spec, breaking the seal at the mounting point.

The second campaign covers 42 transmission assemblies in Rogue models from 2022 to 2026, many of which are remanufactured units. A hardware fault in the control valve lock-up switch can prevent the dashboard from showing which gear is selected, violating federal safety standards.

Investigators found that when the driver shifts into neutral, the control module may lose the gear position signal, causing the engine control module to lose track of the transmission state. As a result, the gear indicator goes blank and the transmission can remain stuck in neutral.

This announcement comes shortly after Honda’s U.S. division launched a massive service campaign covering 325,588 Odyssey minivans. Both recalls highlight ongoing quality challenges in the automotive industry as manufacturers work to address assembly and component defects.
