Nissan Murano Adds New 'Dark Armor' Trim, Priced Between Base and Top Models

Nissan has introduced a new trim level for the 2027 Murano, called Dark Armor, which replaces the previous SL trim and slots between the base SV and the top-tier Platinum. The name replaces the automaker's old "Midnight" black package branding.
The Dark Armor package includes gloss black 21-inch wheels, rear bumper trim, and badges, along with a special shield-style badge. Interior choices are limited to black, and exterior colors are restricted to black, white, two greys, and a dark red. It also adds a panoramic sunroof, perforated leatherette upholstery, a heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, a 10-speaker sound system, and Google built-in apps, features not available on the base model.
Pricing for the 2027 Murano starts at $43,990 for the SV, $46,990 for the Dark Armor, and $49,790 for the Platinum. The Dark Armor costs just $230 more than last year's SL, while the Platinum rose by only $10. However, the base trim jumped $2,320. With a $1,545 destination charge, the base model comes to $45,535.
3-inch screens, leatherette seats, heated and power-adjustable front seats, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, highway driving assist, parking sensors, front and rear automatic emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Nissan says the 2027 Muranos are on sale now.
Through the second quarter, Murano sales were up 7.9% to 19,661 units, while the rival Toyota Crown Signia saw sales drop 8.6% to just under 12,000 units. The new Dark Armor trim is expected to add interest to the lineup without much extra cost, potentially helping maintain sales momentum.
