Nissan Issues Major Recall: Over 168,000 Cars Affected - Check Your Model Now

Nissan has announced a recall affecting more than 168,000 vehicles across several popular models, citing a safety issue that could increase crash risk. The automaker is urging owners to take immediate action. The recall stems from a problem with the front passenger airbag system, which may fail to deploy properly in certain situations.

According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue involves a sensor that can misinterpret the weight of an occupant. This could lead to the airbag either not deploying when needed or deploying when it shouldn't. Affected models include select Nissan Altimas, Rogues, Sentras, and Pathfinders from the 2020 to 2022 model years.

Nissan says it will notify owners by mail starting next month and will repair the vehicles free of charge.

Owners can check if their car is included by visiting Nissan's recall website or calling their local dealer. They should also look for an official letter from the company. In the meantime, drivers are advised to be cautious when carrying a passenger in the front seat. This recall adds to a growing list of safety actions in the auto industry this year, but Nissan insists the fix is straightforward and parts are already in production.

For Boca Auto Care customers, we recommend bringing your vehicle in for a complimentary inspection if you suspect it may be affected.
