Nissan and Infiniti Join Subaru in Massive Sticker Recall: 168,000 SUVs Affected

Just days after Subaru recalled thousands of vehicles over incorrect weight rating stickers, Nissan is facing a similar, and equally unusual, recall. The Japanese automaker is pulling back 168,149 SUVs, including the Nissan Armada and several Infiniti models, because the labels on the door jambs list the wrong maximum axle weight.

It’s a quirky problem for an industry that usually deals with faulty brakes or glitchy software, but the stakes are real: overloading a vehicle without accurate weight limits could lead to broken parts or even a crash.

The bulk of the recall, 138,571 vehicles, are Infinitis, spanning the 2014-2024 QX80, the 2011-2013 QX56, and the current-generation QX80. The remaining 29,478 are Nissan Armadas from 2020 through 2026. Nissan says it discovered the error while reviewing internal procedures and regulatory requirements.

No accidents, injuries, or deaths have been reported, but the company stresses that accurate load information is critical, especially for these large SUVs often used for towing or hauling heavy cargo.

The fix is refreshingly simple: Nissan will either mail owners a new sticker to apply themselves or install it at a dealership, free of charge. The whole process takes just minutes. Until then, it’s safe to drive the SUVs as normal, though owners planning to tow or load up heavy gear should double-check their owner’s manual for weight limits.

Despite the minor nature of the issue, Nissan urges everyone to get the new sticker applied promptly, it’s still a recall, and it’s best handled sooner rather than later.
