Morgan’s Supersport Arrives in the U.S., but the V8 Stays Home

After years of waiting, British automaker Morgan has officially cleared its most thrilling model for American roads. S. homologation. But there’s a catch that will disappoint purists: the roaring V8 engine that defines the car’s character won’t be making the trip across the Atlantic.
4-liter twin-turbo V8 found in European models, the American Supersport will rely on a six-cylinder powertrain. 5-liter twin-turbo V6 that powers the company’s Plus Six. S. buyers will lose roughly 100 horsepower and that signature V8 rumble, though the car should still hit 60 mph in around four seconds.
Why the swap? It comes down to emissions and certification costs. S. regulations is notoriously expensive, and Morgan, a tiny boutique manufacturer, decided the math didn’t work. The good news is that the Supersport’s aluminum chassis, carbon-fiber body panels, and hand-built craftsmanship remain intact.
The first deliveries are expected in early 2025, with pricing likely starting north of $120,000. For now, American enthusiasts will have to decide: is a lighter, six-cylinder Supersport still the ultimate Morgan, or is the V8 the whole point?
