Moonroofs That Could Come Loose? Here’s What to Know About the Subaru Forester Recall

Subaru has recalled nearly 70,000 2026 Forester models because the panoramic moonroof may not be properly bonded to the frame. Over time, the glass could loosen and—in the worst case—detach while driving. The issue affects gas models built between June 2025 and March 2026, plus hybrids made from February to March 2026.
Subaru estimates only about 3% of recalled vehicles actually have the defect, but they’re taking no chances.
What does this mean for owners of Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche, VW, Volvo, Jaguar, Lexus, Toyota, or Honda vehicles? While this recall is specific to Subaru, it’s a good reminder that sunroofs and moonroofs on any vehicle can develop problems over time—especially with age, heat, or improper installation.
If you notice wind noise, water leaks, or unusual rattling around your roof panel, it’s worth having it checked.
For local Forester owners, any authorized Subaru dealer will inspect and replace the moonroof at no cost. If you’re unsure whether your car is included, call the dealer with your VIN. At Boca Auto Care, we don’t handle recalls, but we can inspect your moonroof mechanism and advise on any needed maintenance.
And for owners of European or Japanese makes, routine checks of seals and glass bonding can prevent surprises down the road.
Stay safe—and keep your roof where it belongs.
