Mercedes GLC 300 P06DA00: £55 in parts, £3,500 repair

A Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic owner has detailed a P06DA00 fault and a repair bill that comes down to location. 50 ex-VAT. That means roughly £55 of parts in a £3,500 job, purely because of where they are located.
70-P-070763, publicly available via the NHTSA website, recognises P06DA00 as a known fault on M270/M274 engines from 2019 onwards. The prescribed remedy is a guided test and repair as necessary, not to ignore it. 70-N-078824, appeared in February 2025, and the wiring harness (A2741508602) has been superseded at least three times since introduction.
Mercedes UK offered a 36% goodwill contribution. The owner has also pursued the selling dealer, Lookers of Shrewsbury, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 on durability grounds, given the car is under six years old, has under 34,000 miles and a full MB service history, and cost £44,000.
That dispute is ongoing via the Motor Ombudsman. The owner asks whether anyone else has hit the same fault at low mileage and how it was resolved.
