McLaren Driver Fumes After Being Blocked From Seaside In-N-Out During Car Week

Monterey Car Week brings high-end cars to the California coast every August, but that doesn't guarantee entry to a fast-food parking lot. On August 9, a security guard stopped a McLaren driver from entering the In-N-Out Burger in Seaside, telling him his vehicle was the reason he couldn't come in.
Fernando Barragan, the driver's brother, filmed the incident and shared it with KSBW. Barragan said he was waved through, while his brother in the McLaren was turned away. "They were gonna let me in because I don't have a supercar but they weren't gonna let my brother in because he's in a McLaren," Barragan said.
The McLaren driver reacted angrily, calling it "profiling" and "racism towards cars." The brothers then revved their engines near a cluster of trucks, with one shouting that "the actual idiots are in the trucks."
The Seaside location had become an unofficial late-night gathering spot during Car Week 2025, drawing crowds that led businesses in the area to add extra security for 2026. As of August 10, In-N-Out had not issued a statement on whether the guard was following official policy or acting on his own.
If there is a rule against supercars in the lot during Car Week, it's a strange but logical crowd-control measure. If it was one guard's decision, that's another matter. Car Week runs through August 16, leaving time for a repeat or a response from corporate.
