Mazda CX-30 to Skip New Generation Until 2031, CEO Says

Mazda's subcompact CX-30 SUV won't see a full redesign until around 2031, according to CEO Masahiro Moro in an interview with Japan's Chugoku Shimbun, as relayed by Motor1. The current model, which hit U.S. showrooms for the 2020 model year, will thus remain on sale for more than a decade.
S. import tariffs. The CX-50 is Mazda's only American-built vehicle, leaving the company particularly exposed to the 15 percent tariff on Japanese-made cars.
The CX-30 is a significant seller for Mazda. In the U.S., it ranked as the brand's third-best-selling model in 2025 with 56,684 units, a steep decline from 96,515 in 2023. Globally, it moved 208,869 units, making it Mazda's second most popular vehicle.
While the next-generation CX-30 won't arrive until the fiscal year 2030, which extends through March 2031, Mazda may still give the current model a mid-cycle refresh during the wait. Most cars typically get a new generation every six years or so, but some, like the Chevy Express van or Dodge Durango, have stretched far longer.
