Mahindra Targets Global Pickup Rivals With Cheaper Scorpio Lifestyler

Mahindra Targets Global Pickup Rivals With Cheaper Scorpio Lifestyler

Mahindra has unveiled the new Scorpio Lifestyler pickup, a ladder-frame model set for a global launch in 2027. Indian pricing starts at under 19.79 lakh ($20,700), which undercuts key competitors in the same market.

The production version of the 2023 Global Pik Up concept, the Lifestyler will be sold under that name in export markets, arriving by April 2027. Design work was done in Mumbai, engineering in Chennai, and production will remain in India. It keeps combustion engines and rides on a ladder-frame architecture.

Visually, the pickup evolves the concept with a larger grille, LED headlights resembling the Chevy Colorado, a dual-cab body, and M-shaped LED taillights. Mahindra showed three special editions at the unveiling: a Valley Edition with topographical decals, a Reef Edition with colorful graphics and a roof-mounted surfboard, and a Trail Edition with a Sahara Beige finish, side steps, and a snorkel.

Interior renderings show a large portrait infotainment screen, physical climate controls, a digital cluster, and aluminum-look trim. 2-liter diesel with 173 hp. No hybrid or electric version is planned at launch.

99 lakh. Exports are confirmed for Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, with more details expected closer to the April 2027 launch.
