Lucid Gravity Receives Update with Hands-Free Driving Feature

Lucid Motors has rolled out a software update for its Gravity SUV, introducing a hands-free driving assistance feature. 1, started reaching vehicles on March 10, 2025, and enables the Gravity's system to handle steering, acceleration, and braking on pre-mapped highways without requiring the driver to keep hands on the wheel.
The hands-free mode is currently active on over 200,000 miles of divided highways across the United States, including major interstates like I-95, I-10, and I-80. The system uses a combination of cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors to maintain lane position and adjust speed based on traffic.
A driver-facing camera monitors attentiveness and prompts the driver to take over if inattention is detected. The update also improves the Gravity's automated parking capabilities and adds a new feature for stop-and-go driving on highways. The company plans to expand the hands-free network to additional roads in future updates.
