Lucid Air Sapphire Dominates 200-MPH Test, Beating Corvette ZR1X by Over 6 Seconds

In a recent high-speed test, Car and Driver pushed several supercars to 200 mph and back, and the results were surprising. 7 seconds. 0 seconds quicker than the McLaren 750S.
The test took place on a 2.2-mile taxiway, with four cars making the cut, all producing over 700 horsepower. The Porsche 911 Turbo S, despite a claimed 200-mph top speed, did not finish after hitting a governor at 199.3 mph.
The Lucid's acceleration advantage was largely due to its slippery aerodynamics and extra power. While both the Corvette and McLaren braked more effectively than the big sedan, the Lucid's massive acceleration lead made up for it. The Sapphire hit 200 mph and returned to a stop in less than a mile, setting a new benchmark for the test.
Interestingly, the Lucid's time from 150 to 200 mph took longer than its standing-start-to-150 run, highlighting the aerodynamic challenges at high speeds. 7 seconds, despite the Hyundai only reaching 150 mph.
