Land Rover’s Latest Recall Hits 15,000 Vehicles Over Rear Camera Glitch

Land Rover has issued a recall affecting more than 15,000 vehicles after discovering a problem with the rearview camera system. The issue means the camera image may not appear when the driver shifts into reverse, raising obvious safety concerns. The recall covers certain model year 2025 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs, along with a handful of 2024 and 2025 Defender models.

According to documents filed with federal safety regulators, the glitch stems from a software bug in the vehicle’s infotainment system. When the car starts up, the camera feed can fail to display on the screen, leaving drivers without a clear view behind them while backing up. Land Rover says it became aware of the problem through internal testing and customer complaints, though no crashes or injuries have been reported so far.

Owners will be notified by mail starting in May, and dealers will update the affected software free of charge. If you drive one of these models and notice the rearview camera acting up, you can also contact Land Rover customer service or check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website for your vehicle’s recall status.

It’s a straightforward fix, but one that’s worth addressing promptly to keep your backup maneuvers safe.
