Kia Telluride Faces Second Recall Due to Potential Front Seat Fires

Kia has issued another recall for its popular Telluride SUV, this time over a fire risk linked to the front passenger seat. The problem centers on a motorized seat adjustment mechanism that can overheat, potentially igniting nearby materials. The recall covers roughly 200,000 vehicles from the 2020 through 2024 model years, according to documents filed with federal safety regulators.
This marks the second time in recent months that the Telluride has been pulled back for a seat-related fire hazard. Earlier this year, the automaker recalled over 400,000 Tellurides because of a separate issue where the seat could move unexpectedly and cause a short circuit. Kia says it is not aware of any crashes or injuries tied to either defect, but owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until repairs are complete.
Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the seat adjuster motor and wiring harness at no cost to owners. Kia plans to begin notifying affected customers by mail starting in late November. In the meantime, owners can check their vehicle identification number (VIN) on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website or call Kia’s customer service line for more details.
For Boca Auto Care customers, we recommend scheduling an inspection as soon as the recall parts become available to ensure your Telluride is safe to drive.
