Kia Telluride Faces Another Recall Over Persistent Seat Fire Risk

Kia Telluride Faces Another Recall Over Persistent Seat Fire Risk

Kia is once again recalling its popular Telluride SUV, this time due to a stubborn problem with the front seats that can still catch fire. The issue, first flagged in 2023, involves a faulty seat adjustment motor that can overheat and ignite nearby materials. Despite previous fixes, the automaker has determined that the original repair didn't fully eliminate the hazard, prompting a second round of recalls.

The recall affects certain 2020 through 2024 Telluride models, with Kia estimating that fewer than one percent of the affected vehicles actually have the defect. Still, the company isn't taking chances. Dealers will now install a new wiring harness and a revised seat motor bracket to better isolate the electrical components from flammable seat padding.

Owners can expect notification letters starting in late April.

This isn't the first headache for the Telluride, which has been a sales powerhouse for Kia. The model has faced multiple recalls over the past year, including issues with trailer hitches and engine fire risks. For Boca Auto Care customers, the takeaway is simple: if you own a Telluride in the recall window, don't ignore the mailer.

Bring it in for the free repair as soon as possible, because a seat that can still catch fire is a seat that needs immediate attention.
