Kia Issues Recall for Nearly Half a Million Vehicles - Here’s Which Models Are Affected

Kia is recalling close to 463,000 vehicles across the United States due to a potential safety issue that could increase the risk of a fire. The recall, announced this week, targets specific model years where a faulty component in the engine compartment may overheat. Owners are urged to take action promptly.
The affected vehicles include certain 2020-2021 models of the Kia Telluride, Sorento, and Soul, as well as the 2021 Kia Forte and K5. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the problem stems from a possible short circuit in the vehicle’s oil pump control unit.
If left unchecked, this could cause the engine bay to catch fire, even while the car is parked and turned off.
Kia says it will notify owners by mail starting in late March, and dealerships will inspect and replace the faulty part at no cost. In the meantime, drivers are advised to park their vehicles outside and away from structures until repairs are completed. For more details, owners can visit the NHTSA website or contact Kia’s customer service hotline.
No injuries or crashes have been linked to the defect so far.
